Reshaping workplace learning
Jobs change, even if we don’t change jobs. But keeping ourselves up to date can go at the expense of both productive and personal time. What if our smart devices actually could make us smarter too, on the double – and on the go? Imagine catching up on deep knowledge or broad soft skills while you’re commuting or having a coffee break. In short: what if tech could help integrate learning into our existing daily habits?

Michael Vindevoghel
Yearning for learning
Michael has been working for the Belgian Government since 2013 and has from the beginning been involved in digitalization projects and how further digitalization can support business and improve processes. Since 2017 he’s been working for the Federal Public Service Finance, where he is head of a team responsible for the Digitalisation of learning within the FPS, an organization with over 20.000 employees. An essential role in such an organization to your L&D environment, is without any doubt your Learning Management System and in June of this year he ended his second implementation process of a LMS within his organization.
So he brings quite some experience in how an LMS can support learning and development, and knowledge on the difficulties you may encounter when starting such an endeavour, but also on the must haves of such a platform. He is further a firm believer of data and evidence based HR management, obviously especially focused on Learning and Development. To conclude, we can quote his LinkedIn profile, which states Michael sees it as his job “not to let anyone forget: the challenge for L&D is beating the Ebbinghause forgetting curve” and technology and digitalization are according to him crucial in meeting this challenge.

Yearning for learning
Happy employees are the most important asset in any company. By creating a culture that prioritises personal development and allows employees to learn when and where they want, you boost job happiness and performance. After all, nothing is more frustrating than being left to your own devices when you notice that you do not fully master certain skills. The Federal Public Service (FPS) Finance was also looking for a way to better support lifelong learning. In this session, you’ll hear how Cornerstone partnered with them to meet this challenge.
