The Switch to Electric: Challenges faced by HR Managers

The electrification of vehicle fleets is accelerating. In 2022, Belgium had 71,651 electric vehicles, and just one year later, this number had nearly doubled to 138,749. By 2030, it’s expected that there will be around 1.7 million electric vehicles in Belgium, with up to 800,000 home installations. Company cars are leading the way in this transition. Blossom has identified the challenges and opportunities and offers immediate solutions to support both employers and employees.

Electrification: Obligation or Opportunity?

Today, employers have many reasons to electrify their fleets. Stricter emission standards and environmental regulations are making the switch to electric vehicles more attractive. From a financial perspective, EVs offer advantages thanks to lower maintenance and fuel costs, as well as attractive tax incentives. In addition, employees are increasingly interested in driving in an environmentally friendly way. Smart systems are making electric driving more cost-efficient. Electrification is not only a legal requirement, but also a great opportunity for companies that want to innovate and prioritize sustainability.

Challenges for HR Managers and Employees

However, our conversations with HR managers reveal that the switch to electric can still be complex in practice. Beyond the fear of the unknown, the same top three concerns emerge time and again:

  1. Employees have questions about charging options and costs.
  2. Choosing charging options for both home and office is complicated.
  3. Managing the charging infrastructure requires cost control and technical support.

End-users also have many questions. They often have no say in choosing their home charger and little control over charging sessions. For example, they have limited options to manage peak energy use. What happens if they change employers? Or if other vehicles start using their home charger?

“Blossom ensures a transparent and high-quality installation process.”

Blossom’s Solutions

With its all-in-one solution, Blossom addresses two major concerns: it provides answers to the key concerns of employers and fleet managers, while also helping employees make the transition to electric driving. You can find out more about these innovative charging solutions at blossom.be.

Smart Charging Included with Blossom

Regardless of which home charger is chosen, the Blossom app allows users to analyze their charging behavior and optimize their charging sessions through smart modes. This helps to further reduce energy bills and unlock significant financial benefits:

  • Fast charging: The home charger charges the EV at maximum power, regardless of other household energy use.
  • Solar: The home charger only charges when there is a surplus of (self-generated) solar energy, which is both environmentally and financially beneficial.
  • Departure time: The vehicle is charged sufficiently and in time, without unnecessary energy consumption.
  • Standard: The charger maintains the set maximum peak power to prevent overloading.

“Blossom’s digital approach made the transition to our electric fleet so easy that I wish we had done it much earlier.”
